The 2025 Men’s College World Series has begun. Here are ten bold predictions from World Baseball Network that could occur this year.
There has been a lot of chaos in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The College World Series could provide more chaos, and that includes a national championship for Coastal Carolina.
The Chanticleers accomplished this feat back in 2016, and they have the pitching this season to contend with the very best teams. Plus, Coastal Carolina is on a crazy 23-game win streak.
The Murray State Racers have been battle-tested by very good teams in the NCAA Tournament during their Cinderella run.
Teams like Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, and Duke are at least as good as a team like UCLA is. Therefore, the Racers will not go into this opening game afraid.
With the power hitting they can get from a handful of players such as Jonathan Hogart, Murray State can go out and win their first game in Omaha.
An NCAA Tournament of chaos could bring an end to the streak of five straight SEC champions.
The conference only has two representatives in the field of teams in Omaha this season, LSU and Arkansas. The teams also play each other to open double elimination play.
The last team not from the SEC to win the national championship was Oregon State in 2018.
Guess what? The Beavers are in the field of College World Series teams again in 2025.
Ryder Helfrick has been incredible for Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament with a hit in all but one game.
He has been able to stretch out triples in 2025 with a couple this season.
The Fayetteville regional MVP may be able to get a cycle in with the hot hitting he has put together. A cycle has been done just twice in the College World Series.
The Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year has thrown seven or more innings in six starts this season. He had a shutdown six-inning start in the Chanticleers’ super regional championship win over Auburn on June 7.
With the bright lights of Omaha around him, Morrison could help etch his name into a memorable Coastal Carolina run by going the extra mile. He has the potential to pitch a complete game.
The two power hitters for Oregon State will make their presence felt in the College World Series.
This season, Aiva Arquette has 18 home runs and Gavin Turley has 19. Their efforts have Oregon State ranked in the top 20 in home runs as a team.
Despite Arquette not having a home run since June 2, both he and Turley have had multiple home run games more than once this season. The two players can do it in Omaha.
Arkansas’ star player is in a great position to take home the Golden Spikes Award. The two other finalists, Alex Lodise and Liam Doyle, are out of the NCAA Tournament. This can allow Aloy to boost himself up and take home the hardware.
How will he do it? The Wailuku, Hawaii native will start and continue a hitting streak through the remainder of Arkansas’ run in the College World Series. Aloy had a hit in the Razorbacks’ last game against Tennessee in the Fayetteville super regional.
It is possible that Arizona will be bested by Coastal Carolina’s elite pitching in game one of double-elimination. Therefore, their back will be against the wall as they will need to win out to avoid being eliminated.
This has happened to the Wildcats before. In the Chapel Hill super regional, Arizona lost 18-2 in the first game and fought back to win the next two games to advance to the College World Series.
We may see head coach Chip Hale’s team repeat this pattern during the double-elimination round in Omaha.
The Murray State leader in home runs has been on a power-hitting tear throughout the NCAA Tournament.
He has six home runs throughout the seven games the Racers have played in the tournament. Two of those home runs came in the Durham super regional championship win over the Duke Blue Devils.
The big park may not faze Hogart, as he is arguably the hottest home run hitter in college baseball.
Eyanson will be on the mound in one of LSU’s first games of the College World Series. He, along with Kade Anderson, make up possibly the best one-two punch of starting pitchers in college baseball.
Eyanson has not had double figures in strikeouts during a start since May 10, when he had 11. Who did LSU play in that game? Arkansas.
Yes, the Tigers are facing Arkansas to open the College World Series, and Eyanson seems due for another 10+ strikeout performance.
Even if the UC San Diego transfer does not pitch against the Razorbacks, he can fare just as well against whoever LSU plays in their second game.
