2024 Caribbean Cup Run-Down At Andre Rodgers Stadium In Nassau, Bahamas

The 2024 Caribbean Cup will be held from October 23 to 28 at Andre Rodgers Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.   

The Caribbean Cup will affect the World Baseball Rankings in the World Baseball Softball Confederation 

Host nations Bahamas, Cuba, St. Maarten, Curacao, Dominican Republic, and the United States Virgin Islands will participate in the 2024 Caribbean Cup at Andre Rodgers Stadium.   

The Caribbean Baseball Confederation has not yet announced whether the 2024 Caribbean Cup games will be seven or nine innings.   

COCABE is part of the WBSC Americas sector and operates the Caribbean Cup annually.  

COCABE announced the schedule on September 11 for the 2024 Caribbean Cup.   

The Bahamas last hosted the 2022 Caribbean Cup in December, the first event at Andre Rodgers Stadium.   

The Bahamas Baseball Association President Samuel E. Rodgers Sr., Vice President Joseph Moss, and Secretary General Theodore Sweeting played a big part in organizing the event by negotiating the event and finalizing the process to have the 2024 Caribbean Cup under Secretary General of COCABE, Manuel Frias approval.   

Zane Lightbourne, Minister of State for the Environment, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Mario Bowle, and Prime Minister Phillip Davis were also in attendance on September 20 at Andre Rodgers Stadium.   

The Bahamas national team will be led by manager Geron Sands, bench coach Albert Cartwright, assistant coach Mario Ford and Kenneth Adderley, and pitching coordinator Donovan Cox.  

The Bahamas national team will include players who have played in the minor leagues with MLB organizations and at the collegiate level in the United States.  

The Cuban national team will be made up of young players from Cuba who have played in prior age group events and have also played in the Serie Nacional, spring-summer league, and Elite League, which operates in the winter.  

The Cuban national team’s other top players will be at the 2024 Premier12 tournament, which the WBSC will operate from November 9 to 24.   

The FCB has not yet announced when the third season of the Elite League will start for 2024-25. The Serie Nacional was the island’s only winter and higher-up league, beginning during the United States Trade Embargo in 1960. The Elite League will be in its third season of operation if it resumes in 2024-25.   

Juan Reinaldo Perez is the president of the Federacion Cubana de Beisbol y Softbol.  

The Curacao national team will include players from their Curacao National Championship A and AA 2024 Regular seasons on the Caribbean Cup roster.  

Jedrek Magdalena is the president of the Federation di Beisbol di Korsou.  

The Dominican Republic will bring players from the Liga de Beisbol Profesional Ubicada en la region de la Republica Dominicana.  

The Dominican Republic national team will have players who played in the Dominican Summer League with Major League Baseball organizations and the Liga Nacional de Beisbol de Verano, which lasted from August 8 to October 7 this past summer.  

Most of the players on the Dominican Republic roster will play in the Liga de Béisbol Profesional de la República Dominicana for the 2025-26 regular season and were selected in the 2024 LIDOM Draft.  

Juan Nunez is the president of the Federacion Dominicana de Beisbol.  

The United States Virgin Islands will have Kenny Jackson Sr. as their head coach during the 2024 Caribbean Cup.  

The USVI national team will have players from their federation professional league on the island with players that have played in selective age group events in the past.  

The president of the USVI Baseball Federation is Elroy Hill.  

Sint Maarten Baseball-Softball Federation will participate in an international senior event for the first time at the 2024 Caribbean Cup.   

The SMBSF is a WBSC Provisional Member in the governing body of the sports Americas sector under their first year as an operating federation under President Austin Helliger. St. Maarten is not ranked in the World Baseball Rankings from the WBSC.  

The SMB national team will have players who have played college baseball in the United States on their roster and who have also played in other prospect leagues on the island before the countries’ federation forming.  

Mervin Gario is the head coach of the SMB national team for the 2024 Caribbean Cup.  

The 2024 Caribbean Cup will have all games at Andre Rodgers Stadium. The opening ceremony for the 2024 Caribbean Cup will be held on October 23 at 7:00 p.m. EDT after the Dominican Republic plays Curacao at 3 p.m. EDT.   

There are 15 games scheduled during the seven days at the 2024 Caribbean at Andre Rodgers Stadium.   

Cuba is ranked No. 8 in the WBSC rankings, and in the WBSC Americas, they are No. 4.  Curacao is ranked No. 29 and No. 12 in the WBSC Americas sector. The Bahamas is ranked No. 47 and in the WBSC Americas sector they are ranked No. 15. The United States Virgin Islands is ranked No. 67 and is ranked at No. 22 in the WBSC Americas sector.  

The 2024 Caribbean Cup will be streamed live with a paid subscription on https://r1live.com/en .
