This week, the Detroit Tigers picked up left-handed pitcher Dietrich Enns. The announcement that Enns would be joining the organization came via his Instagram.
In 2024, Enns played for the LG Twins in the KBO. In 33 starts, he finished with a 4.19 ERA and a WHIP of 1.31. He also finished the season with a157 strikeouts.
Enns finished top ten in the KBO in strikeouts, top five in wins (13), and pitched the seventh-most innings (167.2) out of anyone in Korea.
His standout season helped the Twins a lot. They finished third in the KBO with a 76-66-2 record, and LG was second in the league in team ERA.
The team also had a good postseason run. They made it to the playoff round (the semi-final round in KBO) before being knocked out by the Samsung Lions. However, they did win the semi-playoff round against the KT Wiz.
Enns is joining a Detroit Tigers organization that had an incredible bounce-back season in 2024. They made the postseason for the first time since 2014 and won 85+ games for the first time since 2016.
Finishing second in the AL Central was enough for a wild card spot. Detroit took down the Houston Astros in the wild-card round in an upset. They even took the AL Central champion Cleveland Guardians to seven games in the ALDS but came up short in the end.
The Tigers’ pitching staff, which Enns is joining, ranked third in Major League Baseball, only behind the Seattle Mariners and Atlanta Braves. He can find a good fit within this team, which relies on solid pitching.
