2025 Men’s College World Series Preview: LSU Tigers v. Arkansas Razorbacks

 Alfred Ezman - World Baseball Network  |    Jun 12th, 2025 3:58pm EDT

The two teams that represent the SEC will face off to begin the College World Series. LSU and Arkansas have been juggernauts all season long. Now, the two teams will get the opportunity to get off on the right foot against each other to begin the 2025 College World Series.

Arkansas Razorbacks Look as Complete as Ever

Arkansas has yet to lose an NCAA Tournament game. They swept through their regional, defeating North Dakota State, and then Creighton twice.

In those games during the Fayetteville regional, Arkansas outscored North Dakota State and Creighton 26-6 over the course of those three games.

They also swept a red-hot Tennessee team in the Fayetteville super regional in two games. The pitching from the Razorbacks stood out in the matchup against the Volunteers.

The pitching staff combined for 18 strikeouts in those two games and only allowed Tennessee to score seven runs over that same stretch.

LSU’s Offense Looked Great in Super Regional

LSU will give Arkansas’ pitching a good test with the offense they showed in the Baton Rouge super regional against West Virginia.

The Tigers scored 28 runs in the two games they won against the Mountaineers. They scored double figures in runs during both games.

LSU also did this during the Baton Rouge regional in two games. The Tigers scored 12 runs against Dallas Baptist and then had 10 in the regional championship win over the Little Rock Trojans.

The great offense they have shown, combined with the one-two pitching punch of Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson, makes the Tigers confident in making a run at what would be their program’s eighth national championship.

LSU got the Better of Arkansas in the Regular Season

From May 9-11 this season, the Arkansas Razorbacks travelled to Baton Rouge to take on LSU.

The Tigers got off to a roaring start, winning the Friday and Saturday games of the weekend series.

The Friday game was a 5-4 win in extra innings as Ethan Frey hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to win the game.

On Saturday, LSU won the game 13-3. It was over after seven innings by way of a run-rule. Cade Arrambide and Jake Brown led the way for the Tigers with three hits each. Both players combined for three home runs in the game, and Brown had two of them.

Arkansas was able to salvage the series with a 7-4 win in the Sunday matchup. The Razorback pitching staff combined for 15 strikeouts in that game.
