HOOVER, Ala. — While World Baseball Network is on-site in Hoover covering the 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament, the Southeastern Conference announced its annual baseball awards and All-SEC teams on Monday. The following details from the 2025 SEC Baseball Awards are republished directly from the official press release issued by the SEC.

Major Award Winners

Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy was named SEC Player of the Year after leading all SEC players in runs scored (72) and base hits (82). Aloy, a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, hit 18 home runs and drove in 58 while starting every game at shortstop. Aloy was recently featured in Alfred Ezman’s preview of the Golden Spikes Award contenders, alongside Florida State’s Alex Lodise and Tennessee’s Liam Doyle.

Tennessee left-hander Liam Doyle earned SEC Pitcher of the Year honors. He leads the nation with 137 strikeouts and held opponents to a .171 average while anchoring the Vols’ rotation. Doyle also started two combined no-hitters this season and was named a Golden Spikes semifinalist.

Texas freshman reliever Dylan Volantis made history with 11 saves in SEC play, setting a league record. He leads all SEC pitchers with a 1.59 ERA (min. 25 IP) and was named SEC Freshman of the Year. Volantis was also among eight SEC players named semifinalists for the Golden Spikes Award.

Mississippi State third baseman Ace Reese claimed SEC Newcomer of the Year after leading the league in conference play with a .402 average, 15 home runs, and a .869 slugging percentage. Overall, Reese is hitting .369 with 21 homers and 66 RBI.

Texas A&M’s Ryan Prager was named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The lefty posted strong numbers on the mound while earning a finance degree with a 3.65 GPA.

In his debut season in the SEC, Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle was named Coach of the Year. The Longhorns won the SEC regular season title and eight conference series in their first year in the league.

Past winners of these awards have gone on to successful Major League Baseball careers, including several international players. Notable SEC Player of the Year recipients include 1995 winner Todd Helton (Tennessee), a longtime MLB All-Star; 2015 winner Andrew Benintendi (Arkansas), who helped the Boston Red Sox win the 2018 World Series; and 2023 winner Dylan Crews (LSU), a top MLB draft pick. The SEC has also honored players with international roots or later international success, such as Rafael Palmeiro (Mississippi State), who was born in Cuba and became one of MLB’s most productive hitters.
