On Tuesday, the field of teams for the 2026 Astros Foundation College Classic was announced. The college baseball invitational event is set to take place from February 27 through March 1.
The games will be played at Daikin Park, the home of the Houston Astros.
Three Texas Teams in the Field for the Astros Foundation College Classic – Half of the six college baseball teams in next season’s event are from the state of Texas.
The Texas Longhorns are arguably the event’s headlining team. In 2025, they won the SEC regular season title as they finished with a 22-8 record in SEC play.
They finished with a 44-14 overall record and were the number two national seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
The UTSA Roadrunners are another team from Texas in the field. In 2025, head coach Pat Hallmark’s team had arguably the best season in UTSA baseball history.
The Roadrunners had a 47-15 overall record and were 23-4 in American Conference play. This great conference record won the team the American Conference regular season title.
UTSA had great NCAA Tournament success as well. In only their fourth postseason berth in program history, the Roadrunners won the Austin Regional.
This regional championship included two wins over the Texas Longhorns and gave them a berth in the Los Angeles Super Regional.
The Baylor Bears are the third team from Texas in the field. In 2025, they finished 33-22 overall and were 13-17 in Big 12 play last season.
Ole Miss, Coastal Carolina, Ohio State in the Field of Astros Foundation College Classic Teams – The Ole Miss Rebels are the second SEC team to be in the 2026 Astros Foundation College Classic.
Head coach Mike Bianco’s team hosted a regional in Oxford during the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The Rebels finished with a 43-21 overall record and were 16-14 in SEC play.
Ole Miss also finished as runners-up in the 2025 SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala.
Coastal Carolina will be included amongst the group of six teams in the Astros Foundation College Classic.
The Chanticleers had a historic 2025 season. They won the Sun Belt regular season and tournament championships. They made the College World Series in 2025 and finished as national runners-up behind the LSU Tigers.
Head coach Kevin Schnall’s team had a 53-16 overall record and was 26-4 in Sun Belt play.
The Ohio State Buckeyes round out the field of teams in the 2026 Astros Foundation College Classic. In 2025, they finished 13-37 and were 5-25 in Big Ten play.
Last season was the first year the Ohio State program was under the direction of head coach Justin Haire.
