PHOENIX – The Milwaukee Brewers’ farm system, widely regarded as the best in baseball, put some of its best on the field Friday afternoon on the sport’s biggest stage for rising prospects.
The game drew a crowd hungry to see the future of two of baseball’s elite organizations square off, and Milwaukee did not disappoint. The Brewers prospects rolled past the Seattle Mariners prospects, 7-3, in the marquee matchup of the 2026 Spring Breakout at American Family Fields of Phoenix, with all five of Milwaukee’s Top 100 prospects seeing action in the game.
Jesús Made (Ranked No. 3 by MLB Pipeline), Luis Peña (No. 26), Jett Williams (No. 51), Cooper Pratt (No. 64) and Brandon Sproat (No. 100) all took the field for the Brew Crew.
Milwaukee’s No. 9 prospect, right-hander Bishop Letson, started on the mound. The 21-year-old, an 11th-round pick by Milwaukee in 2023, is coming off a standout season in which he posted a 1.69 ERA with 43 strikeouts across 37⅓ innings in 10 appearances. He had eight starts with High-A Wisconsin.
Letson has been regarded as one of the stronger pitching prospects in the Brewers’ system, and perhaps felt the jitters of the big stage, allowing a run on three hits and a walk in 1 1/3 innings.
He opposed the Mariners No. 3 and MLB Pipeline’s No. 33 overall prospect, right-hander Ryan Sloan. Sloan brings a frame and an arsenal that scouts have called befitting of a classic power pitcher.
In his Cactus League debut earlier this month, Sloan tossed a perfect frame on just 12 pitches, with MLB Pipeline analysts describing his stuff as “nasty.” Friday, though, Milwaukee’s lineup proved too much.
Seattle’s Lineup, On Paper – The Mariners sent out a star-studded lineup with center fielder Jonny Farmelo (MLB Pipeline’s No. 78 prospect) leading off, followed by second baseman Michael Arroyo (No. 67), third baseman Colt Emerson (No. 9) batting third and right fielder Lazaro Montes (No. 43) cleaning up at the four-hole.
The Brewers’ pitching staff limited the damage. Both Emerson and Arroyo had gotten meaningful appearances with Seattle’s big league squad during the Cactus League slate earlier this spring and had held their own, making the 7-3 defeat a rare cold afternoon for the Mariners’ top prospects.
Left-hander Kade Anderson (No. 21) also took the mound for Seattle. The Mariners have openly posited that Anderson, last year’s No. 3 overall pick and Men’s College World Series MVP could see major league action at some point in 2026.
Milwaukee’s Loaded Infield – The Brewers’ lineup featured Jett Williams (No. 51), who doubled and scored twice, Jesús Made (No. 3), who went 1-for-2 walked in three plate appearances, and Luis Peña (No. 26), who homered and drove in three runs, occupying the top third of the order, with Cooper Pratt (No. 64) and catcher Jeferson Quero following close behind.
Made, the 20-year-old Venezuelan shortstop, remains the jewel of Milwaukee’s system, with Baseball America having noted that Made is right up there with some of the best prospects in the game.
The Big Picture – Milwaukee’s Spring Breakout roster features 15 of the team’s top 30 prospects, including each of the top four shortstops in Made, Peña, Williams and Pratt.
For Seattle, a franchise that has openly pondered the possibility of both Anderson and Sloan seeing major league action at some point in 2026, with Emerson widely viewed as on a fast track to the big leagues and Arroyo and Montes showing potential for a MLB call-up.
The Mariners’ roster for this game featured all 10 of their top prospects per MLB Pipeline, bookended by shortstops Colt Emerson and Yorger Bautista, with two potential future aces in Anderson and Sloan, a World Baseball Classic standout in Arroyo, who had four hits in 13 at-bats for Colombia in the WBC, and a much-hyped power bat in Montes.
Emerson is potentially on a fast track to the majors, and Montes and Arroyo are likewise candidates to see big-league at-bats at some point this season.
Since Spring Breakout debuted in 2024, more than 200 participants have gone on to make their MLB debuts, with three taking home Rookie of the Year honors Paul Skenes, Nick Kurtz and Drake Baldwin. Both the Brewers and Mariners will be watching to see which names from Friday’s field join that list next.
Milwaukee returns to action Sunday, when it travels to Hohokam Stadium for its second Spring Breakout game against the Athletics’ prospects.
