2026 NCAA Tournament Preview: College Station Regional

The 2026 NCAA Tournament begins Friday, May 29. Here is World Baseball Network’s preview of the 2026 College Station regional.

College Station Regional – Blue Bell Park

No. 1 – Texas A&M Aggies (39-14, 18-11 SEC) – Number 12 National Seed

After a less-than-pretty first season as head coach of Texas A&M, Michael Earley has the Aggies back safely in the NCAA Tournament in his second year as the head coach.

The Texas A&M Aggies boast a lineup that features plenty of heavy hitters at the top of it. Gavin Grahovac, Caden Sorrell, Nico Partida, and Bear Harrison are all batting north of .300 this season in College Station.

The Aggies are also a heavy home run-hitting team with 114 home runs this season. Sorrell leads the team with 23 home runs in 2026.

Jorian Wilson has also been a nice surprise for Texas A&M in 2026. The freshman from Halletsville, Texas, has 12 home runs this season with a .292 batting average. Along with Partida, Wilson has been a big boost for this Aggies lineup that is as potent as any in all of college baseball.

Aiden Sims has been the best starting pitcher this season for Texas A&M. In 68 innings of work, Sims has a 3.84 ERA with 73 strikeouts. He also has allowed an opposing batting average of .213 and a record of 9-1 this season.

No. 2 – USC Trojans (43-15, 20-10 Big Ten)

The USC Trojans finished in fourth place in the Big Ten standings behind three regional hosts. USC is headlined by possibly the best “one-two” starting pitching duo in all of college baseball with Mason Edwards and Grant Govel.

Edwards has a 1.43 ERA and 160 strikeouts in 88 1/3 innings of work. Govel has a 2.84 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 88 2/3 innings of work. The two pitchers have combined for a record of 18-2 this season. Both Edwards and Govel have allowed opposing batting averages that are below .200.

USC’s starting pitching provides them with a decent shot to cause chaos in the College Station regional.

No. 3 – Texas State Bobcats (36-24, 16-14 Sun Belt)

The Texas State Bobcats received an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. It is their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.

The Bobcats played in the Stanford regional in 2022, where they caused some chaos and won two games. Texas State actually beat Texas A&M this season back on April 7 by a score of 9-8.

No. 4 – Lamar Cardinals (34-25, 19-11 SLC)

The Lamar Cardinals are back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010. The Cardinals won the 2026 Southland Conference Tournament in what is head coach Will Davis’ last season before he leaves to coach the Houston Cougars.
