This past weekend, the eight teams that are in the 2026 Puerto Rico Challenge were revealed.
The Puerto Rico Challenge is an invitational college baseball event that will take place from February 13-16 at Estadio Francisco Montaner in Ponce and at Estadio Yldefonso Solá Morales in Caguas.
Here is a look at the field of eight teams in next season’s Puerto Rico Challenge.
Three ACC Teams in the Field – The ACC is very well-represented in the Puerto Rico Challenge for 2026 with three teams in the field — the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Boston College Eagles, and N.C. State Wolfpack.
Wake Forest went 39-22 overall and were also 16-14 in ACC play this past season.
N.C. State finished fourth in the ACC with a 17-11 conference record in 2025. The Wolfpack had an overall record of 35-21.
Both Wake Forest and N.C. State made the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The Demon Deacons were the two-seed in the Knoxville regional. The Wolfpack were the two-seed in the Auburn regional.
Boston College finished as one of the worst teams in the ACC this past season. They were 11-19 in conference play and had an overall record of 28-29.
Washington and Houston Representing the Big Ten and Big 12 – The Washington Huskies and Houston Cougars are two other power conference teams that will be playing in Puerto Rico to begin the 2026 college baseball season.
Washington just spent their first season in the Big Ten conference in 2025. They had a conference record of 17-13 and finished fifth in the Big Ten standings. The Huskies had an overall record of 29-28.
Houston finished the 2025 regular season 30-25 overall. The Cougars had a Big 12 record of 12-17.
Seton Hall, Indiana State, Manhattan Round Out the 2026 Puerto Rico Challenge Field – The Seton Hall Pirates are heading to Puerto Rico for the start of the college baseball season next year.
They went 24-30 overall in 2025 and had a Big East record of 10-11.
The Indiana State Sycamores had a down year in 2025 as well. They went 24-31 overall and were 12-15 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
They missed the NCAA Tournament last season, which halted their run of making back-to-back NCAA Tournaments in 2023 and 2024.
The Manhattan Jaspers are another mid-major team in the field for the 2026 Puerto Rico Challenge.
In 2025, they went 20-28 overall and were 12-15 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.
