2026 Serie de Las Americas: Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional Champion Will Represent Venezuela; Panama’s ProBeis League Won’t Play

When the Serie de Las Americas begins on Feb. 6 in Caracas and La Guaira, Venezuela, fans in the host country will see a familiar team on the field.

The champion of the Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional will represent Venezuela at the 2026 Serie de Las Americas, which will be played at Estadio Monumental Simon Bolivar in Caracas and Estadio Forum in La Guaira. The LVBP is eight games into the five-team, 16-game round robin stage of the playoffs, where the Cardenales de Lara at 6-2 lead the Caribes de Anzotegui by a game. The Aguilas del Zulia (4-4), Navegantes del Magallanes (3-5), and the Bravos de Margarita (2-6) are the other participants in the league’s round robin.

Because the Serie de Las Americas is not a tournament covered by the winter league agreement between Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Player’s Association, and various leagues around the Caribbean, players under contract to MLB organizations won’t be available to play for the LVBP champion in the tournament.

Following the Confederacion de Beisbol Profesional del Caribe’s decision to move the 2026 Caribbean Series from Caracas and La Guaira to Guadalajara, Mexico, the LVBP offered Asociation de Ligas Profesionales de Beisbol de Las Americas the opportunity to move the Serie de Las Americas to the two stadiums that had been slated to host the Caribbean Series. Ultimately, the LVBP’s offer was accepted, and the event was moved to Venezuela and rescheduled to play on the same dates as the Caribbean Series.

After the LVBP’s round robin playoff was suspended for four days following the capture of Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro by the U.S. military in an overnight raid on Jan. 3, the Serie de Las Americas was again rescheduled to Feb. 5-13 to accommodate the completion of the LVBP playoffs.

Participating in the Serie de Las Americas will be Argentine Baseball League champion Club DAOM, the champions of winter leagues in Colombia, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, Panama, and a national team representing Curacao. The teams will play a round robin format from Feb. 5-11, with the top two teams advancing to the semifinals on Jan. 12. The teams that lose in the semifinals will play for third place on the afternoon of Jan. 13, and the semifinal winners will face off for the championship that evening.

The majority of the tournament’s 25 games will be played at Estadio Monumental Simon Bolivar in Caracas.

Panama’s ProBeis League Will Not Play A 2025-26 Season – Panama’s ProBeis league will not play a 2025-26 season, but will send the Federales de Chiriqui to the 2026 Caribbean Series in Guadalajara. It is expected that a quasi-national team will represent Panama at the Serie de Las Americas.
