In the ninth, Panama retook the lead thanks to walks drawn by Carlos Mosquera and Brainer Bonaci. Former Major Leaguer Hernan Perez added a solo shot of his own in the third, one of the two runs Venezuela scored in the frame.
Carlos Arroyo’s three-run round-tripper in the bottom of the fourth for Colombia cut Venezuela’s lead to 7-3, but Reyes’ second homer of the game, a three-run shot, capped a four-run sixth for Venezuela. Starter Alex Tovalin managed to allow no earned runs in three innings for Venezuela, striking out five in the process.
Nicaragua 10, Argentina 2 – A four-run second inning from Nicaragua broke the game open, including a two-run double by Oswaldo Arcia. Nine of the 14 hitters who stepped up to the plate for Nicaragua recorded a hit, including three from leadoff batter Deivi Munoz.
