The schedule for the relocated and rescheduled Serie de Las Americas, planned for Feb. 5-13 in Caracas and La Guaira, Venezuela, was announced on Saturday.

Organized by the Asociation de Ligas Profesionales de Beisbol de Las Americas, the Serie de Las Americas is expected to include the champions of leagues in Argentina, Curacao, Colombia, and Nicaragua, with Cuba, Panama, and Brazil sending their respective national teams. Argentina will be represented by Club DAOM, Colombia by the Caimanes de Barranquilla, Panama by the Aguilas Metropolitanas, and Nicaragua by the Leones de Leon. Venezuela will send the champion of the Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional, though players under contract to Major League Baseball clubs will be unavailable, as the SDLA is not a tournament covered by the Winter Ball Agreement.

The tournament dates were pushed back after the LVBP suspended play after the capture of Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro on the morning of Jan. 3, with the league’s round robin resuming play on Jan. 7. Originally, the tournament was to be held in Panama City and La Chorrera, Panama, before it was moved to Venezuela after the Caribbean Series, which was to be held in Caracas and La Guaira, was moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, amid rising military tensions between the United States and Venezuela.
