Highlights from the 2025 Season
In 2025, four European Championships were successfully organized, with defending champions retaining their titles across all competitions. Italy faced a particularly challenging Women’s European Championship in Prague, where the final against the Netherlands was decided in a dramatic tiebreak. Spain continued its upward trajectory with another strong showing, while Czechia secured a convincing victory at the U18 Women’s European Championship in Pamplona, completing a hat trick and earning qualification for the U18 World Cup Final Stage in the USA.
On the men’s side, Czechia dominated both the Men’s European Championship and the U23 Men’s European Championship, confirming its leading position in European men’s fastpitch. Belgium emerged as one of the rising stars of the season, taking bronze medals at both championships
European Cups and Super Cups
Italian clubs dominated the European women’s cups in 2025. Bollate Softball claimed a historic victory at the Women’s Softball European Premier Cup, defeating three-time defending champions Olympia Haarlem. Saronno added to Italy’s success by winning the Women’s Softball European Cup Winners’ Cup in Évry, France.
The Men’s Softball European Super Cup delivered another spectacular tournament, with Hørsholm Hurricanes (Denmark) successfully defending their title after a thrilling tiebreak final against Chomutov (Czechia). The Coed Slowpitch European Super Cup saw UCE Travellers (Germany) defeat the British Pioneers in an electrifying 19–17 final.
Development, Euroleague and Special Events
WBSC Europe development projects continued to grow in 2025. The European Massimo Romeo Youth Trophy reached full capacity with 18 teams, while MASTERS also filled its maximum of 20 teams in both men’s and women’s divisions. The Central Europe Women’s Softball Euroleague Final took place in Zagreb, featuring eight teams from five countries and highlighting the steady growth of women’s softball in the region
Hall of Fame Recognition
A special highlight of the season was the WBSC Europe Hall of Fame award presented to Eddy van Straelen (Belgium) during the Cup Winners Cup Final Day in Évry, honoring nearly three decades of outstanding service to European softball
The report also marks 10 years of the WBSC Europe Softball Rankings, covering women’s fastpitch, men’s fastpitch, and slowpitch categories. In addition, the 2025 EBSCA Training Camp was officially announced for Sisak, Croatia (October 22–26), continuing WBSC Europe’s strong commitment to coaching and player education.
Registrations for the 2026 season are now open, with the full 2026–2029 calendar published and competition entries underway.
