Shohei Ohtani Has Life Saved By Bat Boy’s Quick Reflexes

Every night, a new story surrounds the Los Angeles Dodgers and star Shohei Ohtani. Since the Dodgers signed Shohei to a ten-year $700 million contract in the offseason, the Japanese-born player has lived up to the hype a contract of that magnitude brings.

On Wednesday night, however, a new star for the Dodgers appeared. Ohtani was getting ready to go on deck, and while watching from the dugout, a line drive came flying into the dugout. A Dodgers bat boy snagged a ball that looked like it was headed toward the National League MVP favorite. The bat boy made a barehanded play on the ball, potentially saving Ohtani from serious injury. MLB fans on social media quickly rose to support this incredible play.

The Dodgers are sure glad this bat boy was ready to make this play that saved their star DH.

Ohtani has been on an unprecedented stretch to start the 2024 season. In Wednesday’s game, Ohtani hit another home run to begin the game. His second straight game with a lead off homer. This home run also made it a new career high for ten consecutive games with an RBI for Shohei. That mark is also good for a new Dodgers franchise record for most games straight with an RBI.

Shohei Ohtani went one for two on Wednesday and helped lead the Dodgers to a 4-0 win over the Chicago White Sox. His homer made it number twenty-five on the year and five in his last six games.
