The clinic will follow the joint-certification format, allowing participants to be evaluated in both 2-umpire system and 3-umpire system mechanics.
Through classroom sessions, field work, and video analysis, the participants will build a deep understanding of umpiring principles and game management at different levels of competition.
Instruction will cover the WBSC Official Baseball Rules (OBR), with a focus on differences between local and WBSC regulations, helping umpires align with international standards.
A dedicated session will feature instructional videos – game situations from WBSC competitions, allowing students to analyze and discuss complex plays and rule interpretations.
Practical and classroom learning
The program will combine classroom theory with on-field and in-cage practice, offering a complete approach to learning.
Umpires will train on positioning, timing, and communication, practicing both 2-umpire system and 3-umpire system mechanics under realistic game scenarios.
Each day will blend technical lectures with practical drills, ensuring participants gain both rule knowledge and hands-on experience.
A European gathering for growth and exchange
The clinic will open with a rendezvous on Thursday, November 27, at 6:00 p.m. at CREPS de Toulouse, a high-level sports facility recognized for its modern infrastructure and support for international training events.
Participants will represent numerous European national federations, continuing the spirit of collaboration and shared development that WBSC Europe promotes.
Throughout the event, umpires will have the chance to exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and strengthen the European officiating community.
Preparing the next generation of European umpires
The 2025 Umpiring Clinic in Toulouse aims to enhance the consistency, quality, and professionalism of baseball officiating across Europe.
By combining education, evaluation, and mentorship, the event will prepare a new generation of certified umpires ready to contribute to WBSC Europe competitions and national championships.
This upcoming clinic represents another important milestone in WBSC Europe’s ongoing effort to invest in the education and advancement of umpires — key figures in maintaining the fairness and integrity of the game.
