LMB Issues Suspensions In Wake of Brawl Between Mexico City and Puebla

The Liga Mexicana de Beisbol has issued multiple suspensions after a brawl broke out in Saturday’s game between the Diablos Rojos del Mexico and the Pericos de Puebla.

For the Diablos Rojos, starting pitcher Ronnie Williams was suspended eight games, and will likely miss his scheduled start on Friday against the Bravos de Leon at home. Pitcher Steve Moyers was suspended for two games, and will be able to return to action in Wednesday’s series finale against the Tigres de Quintana Roo. Jake Sanchez was issued a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct, and will be suspended if he engages in such behavior again.

For the Pericos de Puebla, manager Omar Gastelum was suspended for one game, Raudy Read and Peter O’Brien were each suspended for two games, and Gabriel Ynoa was warned for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Puebla beat Mexico four games to two in the second round of the 2023 LMB playoffs. The two Zona Sur rivals opened the season in Puebla, and there was clearly no love lost between the two teams.
