Day 2 of the Softball Masters delivered another full slate of competitive matchups and standout performances. Teams settled into their rhythm, with several games going down to the wire.
Women’s:
The Suisse Team (SUI) had a competitive game against Club Deportivo Arga (ESP) but suffered a 2-4 loss. Simone Zurschmitten, Miren Goñl, Constanza Busso Gómez and Viktoria Huegli all had RBIs for the day to support a strong defensive performance from their team.
SK Joudrs Praha (CZE) defeated the Classic Ladies (DEN) in a 6-1 win that came from a dominant fourth inning. An RBI single from Klára Patlichová, and 2RBI triple from Magdalena Loudová brought in half of Joudrs runs but the remaining three came on the capitalisation of errors from the Classic Ladies.
Team Sweden (SWE) faced the Classic Bats Deutschland (GER) for their first games of the day and won 8-3. A solid fifth inning brought in five runs for Team Sweden after RBIs came from Ylva Alkelöw, Maria Daniels and Alana Da Silva, ultimately winning them the game.
The Italian team Le Zie (ITA) had a dominating win over the Classic Ladies (DEN) after scoring 10 runs in a five inning game. The first two innings remained scoreless with the first run coming in the top of the third. However, the 7 runs scored in the fourth thanks to RBIs from four players solidified their 10-1 win
Earlier in the afternoon the Cechie Carrots (CZE) had a shut out 8-0 game against the Belgian Red Warriors (BEL). Jitka Horová, Linda Rambouskova, Lucie Boxanova and Jana Chundelova all had RBIs for the game to support a fantastic pitching performance from Martina Lackner-Keil that brought in 10 SO’s across her 5.0 IP.
Le Zie (ITA) shut out the Golden Flames (AUT) in their second game of the day in a 7-0 win. Adele Castorina started things off for Le Zie with an RBI single followed by a 2RBI single from Francesca Catalano. They added another two runs after errors from the Flames and finished the game with another 2RBIs from Francesca’s Rossini’s triple to left field.
The Dutch Old Stars (NED) had a convincing win in a 16-2 game against the Belgian Red Warriors (BEL). After scoring 6 runs across the first two innings the Old Stars scored an impressive 8 runs with almost half coming from a 3RBI triple thanks to Jacqueline Wesselink to win the game an inning later scoring 2 additional runs.
SK Joudrs Praha (CZE) took home their second win for the day after defeating the Golden Flames (AUT). Both teams scored twice in the second inning but a six run third inning gave the Czech team their lead and win. 3 RBI singles, an RBI triple and another run on an error led to the 9-5 result
The Dutch Old Stars (NED) had a close game against Vila Vintage (ESP) defeating them 6-5 in a last inning come back. An RBI double from Nanda Eijgenhuijsen levelled the game for the Dutch side, however the winning run came after Nanda later scored on a wild pitch to win a closely fought game.
In the final game of the day the Cechie Carrots (CZE) closed out the day in a 16-0 shut out against Vila Vintage (ESP). With the third inning being the only one they didn’t score in the team was on fire with the bats to support their starting pitcher Martina Lackner-Keil. She allowed 1 hit for the day with 7 SO’s across her 4.0 IP.

Men’s:
In day 2 of the Men’s competition the Denmark Old Stars (DEN) faced Roma Baseball & Softball (ITA) in a tight 1-2 game. The Old Stars scored first in the fourth after an error, but Juan Carlos Marti Pino homered deep to left field in the sixth to win the game 1-2 for his side.
The Denmark Old Stars (DEN) faced Hercules de Hospitalet (ESP) in their second game of the day looking for a win after their first tight game. After a scoreless first five innings the Old Stars brought in 3 runs after RBIs from Martin Schwartz and Johanny Reyes, as well as an additional unearned run in the sixth. The Old Stars won the game 3-0.
Hercules (ESP) faced Tempo Praha (CZE) in another close game as they lost their second game for the day by 3 runs. Tempo scored early after RBI walks from Tomáš Toka and Jan Kubát which gave them the lead that was supported by another run on a fielders choice. The remainder of the game was scoreless and Tempo ended it 0-3.
In SC United’s (CZE) first game of the day they had a strong win over Club Deportivo Arga (ESP) in a 14-2 game. The first inning saw both teams score a run, but SC United broke away in the second and third inning scoring another 13 runs. The stand out hit of the game came from Kuláš Juriga who homered deep to left field for 2RBIs in the third.
The Royal Greys Grizzlies (BEL) defeated Club Deportivo Arga (ESP) 10-4 in a seven inning game. With both teams remaining within a few runs of each other until the end, it was one inning that allowed the Grizzlies their comeback. 5 players contributed RBIs to the 9 runs that crossed the plate in the final inning as well an additional four runs to win the game.
In the final game of the day Dridmas Rivas Softball defeated the Grizzlies in a four inning game. Rivas scored first taking an early 4-2 lead at the end of the first inning. They cemented their win in the second inning as they scored an additional 5 runs from 3RBIs and two unearned runs. Despite a strong last two innings the Grizzlies were unable to come back losing the game 9-6.
