They defeated Panama and Venezuela (Blue) respectively on the first day of the tournament in Mérida
(Press Release; Pan American Baseball Confederation) – The Pan American Baseball Confederation kicked off the first day of the U10 International Championship in Mérida, Venezuela, with victories for Brazil and Venezuela (White).
The first day of the tournament was characterized by close games, suggesting a competitive championship among three nations vying for the trophy.
In the first game, Brazil played hard to defeat Panama 1-0, scoring the winning run in the decisive inning, getting off to a good start in the tournament.
Joao Cassemiro was Brazil’s standout player, going 2-for-2 with a double.
The outcome of the game between the two Venezuelan teams in the second game was no different, with the White squad also defeating the Blue squad 2-0. The most valuable player was winning pitcher Isaac González, who struck out seven and allowed only one hit in 3.2 innings.
The action continues Sunday morning with Venezuela visiting Brazil, who are looking to remain undefeated, while Venezuela also seeks its second victory when it faces Panama.
