In the biggest matchup in Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend, Clemson and Wake Forest will collide at Clemson’s Doug Kingsmore Stadium with a great pitching matchup for Friday night’s game.
Aidan Knaak of Clemson will matchup against Logan Lunceford from Wake Forest. Here is what to expect ahead of this top-tier showdown.
Knaak has been nothing short of elite in 2025 as he continues to put on a brilliant sophomore season. In five starts, he has a 3-0 record with wins over VCU, Davidson, and Notre Dame. In 25 and 2/3 innings of work, he has struck out 44 batters compared to just nine walks. He has given up just one home run out of the 107 hitters he has faced.
He will be going up against a Wake Forest lineup with big-time players like Marek Houston and Kade Lewis. Both hitters are in the top 10 in the ACC in individual batting average and have combined for 14 home runs this season.
Logan Lunceford has been stellar, just like Knaak. This season, he has a 1.33 ERA in 27 total innings and five starts. He flexes an undefeated record just like his opposition for Friday’s game. He has an astonishing 50 strikeouts and has allowed an opposing batting average of .110.
Lunceford’s wins this season are against St. John’s, Princeton, Notre Dame, and Miami.
He will face off against a Clemson lineup that also has its big-time names. Jarren Purify has been leading the charge in hitting in 2025 with a .386 average. Cam Cannarella, Clemson’s star hitter, remains a threat with a .346 batting average. Both players have combined for 37 RBI this season.
Knaak and Lunceford can deliver one of the best pitching matchups in the 2025 college baseball season so far.
Friday night’s matchup between Clemson and Wake Forest is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST. at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson, S.C.
