The Louisiana State University Tigers, under head coach Jay Johnson, won their eighth national championship on Sunday with a 5-3 win in Game Two of the best-of-three 2025 NCAA Division I College World Series final against the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
LSU previously won the national championship in 1991, 1993, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2009, and 2023, adding their eighth title Sunday afternoon.
LSU finished the season with a 53-15 record, ending the year ranked No. 6 in the nation. Coastal Carolina concluded their campaign at 56-13 and No. 13.
Johnson became the fastest coach in NCAA Division I baseball history to win two national championships with the same program, achieving the feat in just four seasons at LSU.

Three LSU pitchers are ranked on the MLBPipeline.com Top 200 list heading into the 2025 MLB Draft: Kade Anderson (No. 3), Anthony Eyanson (No. 66), and Chase Shores (No. 85).
The 20-year-old left-hander from Slidell, Louisiana, is projected to be selected No. 1 overall in the 2025 MLB Draft in Atlanta, although he is currently ranked behind two high school players: right-handed pitcher Seth Hernandez from Corona High School (No. 2) and infielder Ethan Holliday from Stillwater, Oklahoma (No. 1).
Anderson delivered a dominant performance in Game One of the National Championship Series, throwing a complete-game shutout over nine innings. He allowed three hits, walked five, struck out 10, recorded nine groundouts and seven flyouts, and threw 130 pitches—83 for strikes.
