The Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League will play a three-game set against the New Zealand national team, the New Zealand Diamondblacks, this December.
The three-game set is scheduled for Dec. 26-28 at Melbourne Ballpark.
“We are thrilled to reignite the trans-Tasman rivalry on the diamond. Baseball New Zealand brings a high calibre of talent, and this series represents the beginning of what we hope becomes an annual Boxing Day tradition at Melbourne Ballpark,” said Aces general manager Justin Huber.
The series will begin with a 7 p.m. local time matchup on Boxing Day, Friday, Dec. 26, which is a holiday in Australia, with another 7 p.m. game on Saturday, Dec. 27. The rubber game is schedule for Sunday, Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. local time.
“This is an exciting step for New Zealand baseball. Our national players are competing all over the world, and this series provides a great opportunity to bring them together on the diamond and test ourselves against one of Australia’s premier professional teams,” said Baseball New Zealand CEO Megan Crockett.
The Australia Baseball League streams its games on Baseball+ for a fee.
