Alabama’s Sam Christiansen Missing 8-10 Weeks After Leg Surgery

This week, Alabama’s Sam Christiansen underwent surgery for a broken leg injury. His timeline for returning to play baseball is 8-10 weeks, according to Alabama baseball beat writer Simon Besnoy.

Christiansen transferred into Alabama after playing for the Oklahoma Sooners during the 2025 college baseball season.

Before that, he played for Stone Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Ariz.

Christiansen and his 2025 Season with Oklahoma

In 2025, Christiansen had a .263 batting average and also drew a hefty number of walks, posting a .463 on-base percentage.

Christiansen also hit nine doubles and five home runs. He had 30 RBIs and stole seven bases.

Christiansen was a part of the 2025 NCAA Chapel Hill Regional All-Tournament team as well. He played a big role for Oklahoma during the NCAA Tournament.

Christiansen had at least a hit in every game of the Chapel Hill regional. He had three hits against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on June 1. Two of those hits were doubles, and he also had two RBIs in that matchup.

What Position will the Oklahoma Transfer play in Tuscaloosa?

According to Besnoy, Christiansen was expected to compete for the corner outfield positions at Alabama.

At Oklahoma last season, he played primarily right field and first base.

Up Next for Alabama

The Alabama Crimson Tide will begin the 2026 college baseball season on February 13 against the Washington State Cougars.

The game is at Alabama’s home ballpark, Sewell-Thomas Stadium, and the first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. EST.
