Florida State shortstop Alex Lodise brought in some hardware following his incredible 2025 regular season. The junior from St. Augustine, Fla. won the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year award along with the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award.

Lodise is the 10th Florida State player ever to win the ACC Player of the Year award. The Seminoles now have back-to-back winners of this award as James Tibbs III won it last season.

Other notable Florida State players who have won this award include Buster Posey, Marshall McDougall, and J.D. Drew.

This season, Lodise has a .422 batting average and a .483 on-base percentage. He leads the ACC in batting average.

He has 17 home runs this season and 63 RBI as well. His RBI total is 20 more than he had all of last season.

Lodise’s massive improvements on defense have changed how he is viewed as a player, too. The shortstop’s fielding percentage jumped from .944 in 2024 to .973 this season. His errors went down as well from last season.

The great hitting at the plate and defense in the field from Lodise have helped Florida State be one of the best teams in the country this season. They are the best hitting team in the ACC with a .319 team batting average. They are also tied with the Duke Blue Devils for being the best defensive team in the league based on team fielding percentage.

A lot of this success for the team contributes to the success of Lodise, who is one of the best players in college baseball.

Up NextThe Florida State Seminoles finished the regular season second in the ACC. They are now competing in the ACC Tournament this week in Durham, N.C.

They will await an opponent in the quarterfinals on May 22. The possibilities of who they can play include Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Duke.
