The Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico announced on June 19 that the Algodoneros de Guasave will play in the 2024 Barcelona Baseball Cup (BBC) operated by the Real Federación Española de Béisbol y Sófbol. The Cup will be held from September 25 to 29 during Catalan Sports Week at Camp Municipal de Béisbol Carlos Pérez de Rozas in Barcelona, Spain.

The Federació Catalana de Beisbol is also the operator for the 2024 BBC.

The confirmation that Algodoneros de Guasave will play at the 2024 BBC was in part made at a press conference led by President Alfredo Arámburo Najar, General Director Luis Fernando García of the Algodoneros de Guasave franchise, and Jordi Valles of the Federació Catalana de Beisbol.

“Barcelona will become the second home of Algodoneros because we will be the pioneer team to play here, but hopefully, more organizations will come to get involved in this project, so that we have already taken the first step to consolidate it. We hope that each year it will be carried out and as I said, that this will be the beginning so that later many more teams will join in,” said Alfredo Arámburo on the team website.

Algodoneros de Guasave, All-Star Spain, and the Catalan Baseball Team are the three teams confirmed to play at the 2024 BBC.

One more team will be confirmed to play in the 2024 Barcelona Baseball Cup within the next few months.

The Algodoneros de Guasave will be the first professional team to play in Spain once they take the field in late September.

There will also be other activities, including baseball clinics for kids, operated by active Algodoneros coaches.
