Arab Classic Day Three Recap: Runs, Runs, and More Runs

Five games were played on day three of the Arab Classic, and the knockout rounds have been finalized.

Pakistan 17 – Afghanistan 3

The Pakistan offense has been the story of the tournament; they have not scored less than ten runs in a single game. This game was no different, as they blew out the overmatched Afghanistan side. The game was highlighted by Zan Shariff von Schlegell, who recorded an inside-the-park grand slam! Zan Shariff would be joined by Amar Mahmood, who would record an RBI triple late in the game. Finishing 4-0, Pakistan has a bye to the Semi-Finals tomorrow.

UAE 9 – Bangladesh 2

Needing a win to move on to the quarterfinals the UAE would not be denied as they would go on to dominate Bangladesh 9-2. It was the same winning formula for the UAE: great pitching and solid offense. Over all four group stage games, UAE would allow two runs or less in three of them. It was much more of the same for Bangladesh, as they failed to create offense in their first of two games on the day.

Sri Lanka 10 – Nepal 0

Sri Lanka would not be denied a chance at the crown as they would leave no doubt beating Nepal and setting the table for their quarterfinal game tomorrow. For Nepal, it ends a rough tournament, as they would allow double-digit runs in all three of their games while scoring four runs the entire series.

Palestine 12 – KSA 2

The only other offense that has performed in each game outside of Pakistan has been Palestine. Today would be no different as they would score double-digit runs again and punch their ticket into a first-round bye. For the KSA, their inability to keep the other team from scoring was their downfall. Besides their game against Nepal, they have allowed 27 runs in the other two games.

India 9 – Bangladesh 1

Fighting for the final spot in the playoffs, India needed a win. They would leave no doubt as they went on to score nine runs and bounce back from their loss the day before against Pakistan. Bangladesh would be held to two runs or less for the second straight game, and their woeful tournament would come to an end.
