On Tuesday, the Arabia Wolves became the second Baseball United franchise to unveil their roster ahead of the league’s inaugural season. While the roster features only one former Major League Baseball player—right-hander Akeem Bostick—the team is filled with players eager to prove themselves on a larger stage.
Baseball United offers a unique platform for players from independent leagues and lesser-known domestic circuits to showcase their talent on an international level. For many, it’s a chance to revive or launch professional careers. One such player is third baseman Taylor Darden.
After a challenging senior season at McNeese State, Darden found limited opportunities in professional baseball. It wasn’t until spring 2024 that he received an offer to play in independent ball. He briefly joined the Glacier Range Riders of the Pioneer League but was released during spring training. That setback led him to the Pecos League—a circuit often viewed as the last stop for players clinging to their professional dreams.
Darden responded with a strong 2024 campaign, which earned him a spot with the Boise Hawks (Pioneer League) in 2025. He blossomed into one of the league’s top hitters, posting a stellar 1.209 OPS, which ranked fourth overall. Now, with Baseball United, Darden hopes to use this platform to earn a minor league contract. His tools suggest he has a legitimate shot.
Another breakout independent league talent joining the Wolves is right-handed pitcher Reese Miller. Pitching out of the hitter-friendly confines of Grand Junction in the Pioneer League, Miller put up eye-popping numbers—83 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings with a 1.33 ERA. With his velocity and his arsenal, Miller is pitcher capable of contributing at the minor league level. A strong performance in Dubai could turn some heads.
Global Roster Reflects Baseball United’s International Mission
Beyond its indy ball standouts, the Arabia Wolves’ roster also highlights Baseball United’s emphasis on international diversity and development.
Hungarian pitcher Sean Fekete is likely to see time in the rotation. Fekete most recently posted a 2.15 ERA in the German Baseball League during the 2025 season. In the infield, Jacinto Cipriota from Argentina brings veteran experience. A former minor leaguer from 2007 to 2011, Cipriota has remained active in Argentina and various independent leagues. Earlier this year, he starred in the Series de las Americas in Nicaragua, where he notched an .807 OPS and helped Argentina upset the reigning Colombian champions, Caimanes de Barranquilla.
The Wolves will also feature three players from Poland’s national team, furthering Baseball United’s mission to globalize the game. South Africa will be represented by infielder Christiaan Beyers, who played in the 2025 World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Taiwan.
Other countries represented on the roster include Aruba, Cuba, Mexico, Canada, and Germany.
