On January 14, Clemson right-handed pitcher Ariston Veasey got charged with two counts of third-degree assault and battery, according to The Tiger. He was released on a $930 personal recognizance bond.
The incident itself occurred on January 11 at ROAR, a downtown bar in Clemson, S.C. According to a police incident report, Veasey was inside the bar fighting other patrons. The Tiger stated that two individuals alleged that Veasey punched them during the incident at ROAR.
Upon arriving, the police also located a fake Georgia driver’s license within Veasey’s belongings.
The ROAR’s Statement on the Incident Involving Veasey
The ROAR provided a written statement to The Tiger regarding the incident in their own words.
“An individual at our venue was engaging in inappropriate behavior and was confronted by staff. During that interaction, the individual became aggressive and physically assaulted a staff member. When a manager stepped in to stop the altercation, the manager was also struck. The individual was removed from the premises, and law enforcement handled the situation. We are fully cooperating with the investigation. We have zero tolerance for violence or inappropriate conduct, and the safety of our staff and guests remains our top priority.”
Veasey received a trespass notice from the Clemson bar as well.
