This past Saturday, the Arkansas Razorbacks’ win over the Ole Miss Rebels marked the 900th win in Fayetteville for legendary head coach Dave Van Horn.
He was asked about it postgame and expressed thankfulness to be with the Arkansas baseball program.
“I just appreciate the opportunity to be here. I appreciate being able to coach a bunch of these good players and hang out with a bunch of good coaches.”
This win was also the first SEC win of the season for the Razorbacks. They would also go on to win Sunday’s game to win two out of the three games they played against the Rebels in Swayze Field.
Van Horn was hired as Arkansas’s head coach in 2003. During his tenure, the Razorbacks have gone to the College World Series seven times. Arkansas has missed the NCAA Tournament twice since 2003, and one of those “seasons” was the shortened COVID-19 year.
Other accolades Van Horn has earned while at Arkansas include three SEC Coach of the Year awards and three SEC regular-season championships. He also won the SEC Tournament for Arkansas in 2021.
Under Van Horn’s leadership, the Razorbacks finished as national runner-ups to the Oregon State Beavers in 2018.
The 900th win against Ole Miss adds to the coaching legend’s already stacked resume full of winning.
