According to Chase Ford of MiLB Central, the Atlanta Braves are calling up their No. 29-ranked prospect from MLBPipeline.com, left-handed pitcher Hayden Harris, to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, June 9, from Double-A Columbus.

The 26-year-old from Augusta, Ga., signed as an undrafted free agent with the Braves on July 30, 2022, following his fifth-year senior season at Georgia Southern University. He was assigned to the Florida Complex League on August 2, 2022.

This season with Double-A Columbus, Harris has a 4-0 record and a 0.79 ERA across 18 relief appearances. He has recorded three saves, thrown 22.2 innings, allowed 11 hits, two earned runs, seven walks, struck out 37 batters, and posted a 0.794 WHIP.

During spring training, Harris appeared in two games for the Braves, allowing no hits, no earned runs, no walks, and striking out three in one inning while recording one save.

Harris also pitched in the 2024 Arizona Fall League with the Peoria Javelinas, where he had an 11.42 ERA in seven relief appearances. He threw 8.2 innings, allowed 12 hits, 11 earned runs, four walks, and struck out 16.

Last season, Harris split time between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett.

With Double-A Mississippi, he posted a 2-1 record and a 1.74 ERA over 19 appearances, recording one save in 20.2 innings. He allowed 17 hits, four earned runs, nine walks, and struck out 34 batters, finishing with a 1.258 WHIP before being promoted to Gwinnett on June 25, 2024.

In Triple-A Gwinnett, Harris went 1-3 with a 7.36 ERA in 22 appearances, collecting two saves while throwing 22 innings. He allowed 25 hits, 18 earned runs, five home runs, 16 walks, 35 strikeouts, and a 1.864 WHIP.

Across four seasons in the minors since 2022, Harris has a 13-8 record and a 3.69 ERA in 105 relief appearances. He has recorded eight saves while throwing 129.1 innings, allowing 104 hits, 53 earned runs, 11 home runs, 62 walks, 203 strikeouts, and a 1.284 WHIP.

According to Harris’s Baseball Savant profile, “he tops out at 95 mph and averages just 92. Harris’ invisible fastball elicited a 42 percent miss rate in 2024, according to Synergy. Hitters can’t square it up thanks to deception and carry up in the zone. His 83–84 mph short slider gets a lot of ground ball contact rather than serving as an out pitch, and he also mixes in a splitter to give hitters a different look.”

His scouting grades on Baseball Savant list his fastball at 55, slider at 45, splitter at 45, control at 40, and overall at 40.

The 24-39 Gwinnett Stripers will play at home for a three-game series at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, Ga., against the 34-27 Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT on June 10.

All minor league games are streamed on BallySports.
