Australia has finalized its roster for the 2025 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 World Cup presented by RAXUS, with national selectors confirming the 20-man squad following a week-long selection camp on the Gold Coast.
The camp, proudly supported by Invest Gold Coast, brought together 34 of the country’s top young baseball talents for evaluation ahead of next month’s tournament in Okinawa, Japan. From that group, selectors named eight pitchers and 12 position players to represent Team Australia on the world stage.
“We have a very versatile team,” said manager Jason Pospishil. “Any time you wear an Australian jersey it’s an honour and a privilege. When you stand on that foul line and they play the anthem, that’s when it hits you that what you’re doing isn’t done by everybody and there’s a responsibility for it.”
The national roster draws talent from all seven state representative teams that competed at the Australian Youth Championships earlier this year—New South Wales, NSW Country, ACT, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and Victoria.
Two players bring additional international pedigree to the squad: returner Josh Nati, who played in the 2023 U-18 World Cup, and pitcher Mitch Evans, who recently signed with the Detroit Tigers organization.
Team Australia departs for Japan on August 31, with tournament play beginning September 5 in Okinawa.
