The Austrian Baseball Softball Federation (ABF) confirmed Rainer Husty as President through 2027. Vienna native Husty (65) has been in office since 2007.
“I am delighted to be able to represent the Austrian Baseball Softball Federation for the next two years and can hardly wait to continue working with the new board team,” commented Husty.
The ABF also confirmed Caroline Mériaux as Vice President of Softball. The 39-year-old Vienna Wanderers representative has served in the position since 2021.
The ABF elected three new board members. Philip Weller (Schwechat Blue Bats) was chosen over Karl Miksch as vice president of baseball. Rafal Moczkowski (Wiener Neustadt Diving Ducks) will serve as Vice President Youth. He won the vote over Markus Mastny, who leaves the board after six years in service. Andreas Rudigier (Hard Bulls) was elected Vice President of Finance. His predecessor, Thomas Hartmann (in office since 2023), did not seek re-election.
“There is a lot to do, not only because our national baseball team’s fourth consecutive participation in the European Championship is another major event, but because the potential for developing baseball and softball is far from exhausted,” added Husty. “I would like to thank the clubs for their trust and Karl Miksch, Markus Mastny, and Thomas Hartmann for their cooperation over the past few years, which have always been characterized by mutual respect and endless passion for our sport.”
Anthony Bennett will be the Austrian Men’s Baseball National Team manager.
“With the European Baseball Championship on the horizon, I’m ready to help lead this team to new heights,” said the 55-year-old American. “Austria has been building something special, and I can’t wait to contribute to the journey.”
Hiroyuki Sakanashi will stay in Bennett’s coaching staff and manage the U-23 National Team.
