(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The Panam Sports Executive Committee officially announced that baseball will be part of the Pan American Games to be held in Lima, Peru in 2027.
The president of Panam Sports and member of the International Olympic Committee, Neven Ilio, officially announced that baseball will be featured at the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.
Baseball will therefore be included in the program of the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, which will take place between July 16 and August 1 of that year.
Baseball was present at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, with Colombia winning the final against Brazil, earning its first trophy in the sport at these games.
The Pan American Games berths are scheduled to be contested at the Copa América, expected to take place later this year, in November 2025, with the participation of the 12 best teams in the Americas according to the WBSC rankings.
This would be the first event of its kind and magnitude, and it is hoped that in the future it will consolidate itself as one of the premier baseball events worldwide.
The current WBSC Americas Board of Directors, led by Aracelis León, firmly intends for this tournament to meet the standards of events such as the World Baseball Classic and the Premier12.
