The holiday season is right around the corner. It is a time for families and friends to get together and show appreciation to one another in many different ways. In short, it is a cherished tradition loved by people worldwide.
In a way, baseball also fits the mold that the holiday season does. The sport is a tradition in and of itself and brings people together, just like the holidays. In fact, in many cases, the holiday season and baseball can go hand in hand in bringing people together.
This connection is shown in many ways. Perhaps you give someone a jersey of their favorite Major League Baseball player, or maybe you receive your favorite player’s jersey as a gift from someone.
This act of gift-giving is a normal part of the holiday tradition. However, it deeply reflects how you and your relatives and friends are bonded with each other through the global love of baseball.
This baseball connection during the holidays does not even have to be shown via gift-giving. Maybe during the large family dinner, you get into a discussion about recent events in baseball.
For example, I would be willing to bet there will be discussions about Juan Soto’s signing with the New York Mets in many households when late December rolls around.
The holidays and baseball are similar in their ability to bring people together. Baseball can be prevalent during this time of year. That should not be a shocker since both are well-implemented cultural elements that play a large role in our society.
World Baseball Network wishes our audience a Happy Holidays!
