Baseball European Champions Cup Finals Set

The final of the Baseball European Champions Cup is set after the semifinal games wrapped up on Wednesday. Guggenberger Legionaere Resenberg (Germany) will face off against Draci Brno (CZE) on September 28.

Draci Brno (CZE) 11, Eagles Praha (CZE) 6

Draci Brno got on the board early with two home runs from Martin Kalabek and Milan Prokop in the top of the first inning. Eagles Praha quickly tied the game at two runs after Petr Zyma scored on an error in the second inning.

In the third, Draci Brno regained the lead off a sacrifice fly from Prokop. Alex Monsalve added to the lead a few batters later with a two-run homer. Prokop homered for his second of the day in the fifth inning with a two-run shot to give Draci Brno a 7-3 lead.

A four-run seventh inning capped off by a two-run double from Javier Alejandro Lucena grew the Draci Brno lead even further.

Jan Vansourek pitched three and a third innings with five strikeouts and allowed two runs to pick up the win in relief.

Draci Brno finished second at 4-2, while Eagles Praha finished fourth with a 0-6 record.

Guggenberger Legionaere Resenberg (GER) 11, VOITH Heidenheim Heidekoepfe (GER) 1

Marlon Chayanne Jimenez Ramos opened the scoring for Guggenberger Legionaere with a home run in the second inning. Daniel Patrice doubled, and Matthew Vance hit a single to drive in two more runs and grow the Legionaere lead.

A home run in the fifth from Antonios Torres Skerrett and a four-run sixth inning gave Legionaere an eight-run lead. William Germaine put Heidenheim Heidekoepfe on the board in the seventh inning with a single.

Matthew Vance drove in two more runs with a double, and Lou Helmig singled in a run in the seventh to finish the scoring for Legionaere.

Three pitchers for Legionaere allowed four hits and had ten strikeouts.

Guggenberger Legionaere Resenberg finished in first place with a 5-1 record, and Heidenheim Heidekoepfe finished in third at 3-3.
