Baseball European Federation Cup Monday Recap

The 2024 Baseball European Federation Cup’s first day of action was Monday, June 3. The only game that occurred saw the Rattviks BSK win handily against the Mariners 10-0.

The event, which is a World Baseball Softball Confederation Europe sector event, will be held from June 3 to 8 at the Zürich Heerenschürli Baseball Stadium in Zurich, Switzerland.  

The BEFC round-robin will be from June 3 to 7, and the championship game will be held on June 8.  

The Zurich Barracudas from the Switzerland Baseball and Softball Federation, the Hoboken Pioneers from the Belgium Division I operated by the Koninklijke Belgische Base en Softball Federatie, the London Mets from the Britain Baseball Federation National League, the Mariners from the Irish Baseball League operated from Baseball Ireland and the Rättviks BSK from Elitserien and operated by the Swedish Baseball and Softball Federation are all participating at the 2024 Baseball European Federation Cup.  

The game between the London Mets and Hoboken Pioneers on Monday, June 3, was rained out. It has been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 4, at 4 a.m. EST.

Rättviks BSK 10, Mariners 0 F/7  

The Rattviks won 10-0 over the Mariners in seven innings because of the mercy rule. 

The Rattviks only needed two pitchers on Monday. Starting pitcher Povl Erik Marqvardsen and relief pitcher Pontus Ununger, allowed three hits, three walks, and six strikeouts.

Their offense, led by center fielder Joel Johnson produced 13 hits. Johnson had two hits, two RBIs, one walk, and scored once in his three at-bats.

Mariners starting pitcher Daniel John Woodburne threw seven innings, allowing 13 hits, 10 earned runs, four walks, and three strikeouts.
