On Monday, the Baseball European Federation Cup Qualifier 2024 began in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Five teams will compete to earn a spot in the Baseball European Federation Cup in 2025.
The five teams competing in Group Slovenia from Monday, June 10, to Saturday, June 15, are the Akademics Sofia, Eagles Cluj, Kranjski Lisjaki, Valerenga Baseball, and the Angels Trnava. The event is a round-robin tournament until Friday, and the two teams with the best records will advance to the final on Saturday.

Day 3 Results
On Wednesday, day three of the tournament, Valerenga Baseball faced the Angels Trnava, and the Eagles Cluj faced the Kranjski Lisjaki.
Valerenga Baseball improved to 2-0 in the tournament with an 8-3 win over the Angels Trnava, who fell to 1-2.
Catcher Alex Guilford went 2-for-4 to improve his OPS to 1.083 in the tournament for Valerenga Baseball, and starting pitcher Emil Fjellvang threw all nine innings for the club. He allowed three earned runs on four hits and struck out 12.
Valerenga Baseball’s highest-scoring inning came in the top of the seventh when they pushed across three runs on four singles, including a two-run knock by Yanni Orfanidis.
The Angels Trnava offense struck out 12 times, and their defense committed five errors, leading to the loss. Starting pitcher Filip Boris, who took the loss, allowed three earned runs on five hits in six innings.
On Wednesday, the Kranjski Lisjaki improved to 2-0 with a 22-0 win in five innings over the Eagles Cluj, who fell to 0-3 with the loss.
The Kranjski Lisjaki overwhelmed the Eagles Cluj the whole game, scoring runs in bunches. In the other dugout, the Eagles Cluj managed just one hit—designated hitter Ricardo D. Rodriguez Melendez was the standout performer for the Kranjski Lisjaki, going 2-for-5 with five RBI and raising his tournament batting average to .500.
The Eagles Cluj will look to regroup for their next game on Friday against the Akademics Sofia after a disappointing performance on Wednesday.
In two games, the Kranjski Lisjaki have outscored their opponents 41-0 and look to improve to 3-0 in their next round-robin game.
