Slovakia’s Angels Trnava Baseball will be elevated to the 2026 Baseball European Federation Cup after winning the Poland group of the qualifiers. They went 4-1 and defeated Kutno of Poland 8-4 in the final game.
The Angels lost to Kutno 2-3 in pool play, but ended up getting their revenge when it mattered most. In their first matchup, Kutno scored all of their runs in the second inning, and their pitching was able to keep the Angeles at bay.
In the final game, the Angels scored first in the second inning. They plated two runs thanks to a bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch. However, it was a five-run fifth inning that really put the game away.
The Angels’ Samuel Deák was named the best pitcher in the tournament after 8 1/3 innings of work. He gave up just two earned runs and struck out 14. He made one start and allowed an opponent batting average of .115.
The Angels will be one of the teams taking the place of the Krajnski Lisjaki and the Essex Arrows, who both were elevated to the Baseball European Cup for 2026. The other team joining the Angels in the 2026 Baseball European Federation Cup will be the winner of the Norway Qualifier Group.
