On Monday, Warchant.com’s Matt LaSerre announced that Florida State multi-sport athlete BJ Gibson will now focus on baseball full-time.
The outfielder was also a member of the Florida State Seminoles football team and played wide receiver.
During the 2024 football season, he caught two passes for 14 yards in a win over the Charleston Southern Buccaneers.
The 2025 college baseball season was Gibson’s freshman year in Tallahassee playing for the Seminoles.
He played in 21 games, got 33 at-bats, and recorded a .242 batting average. Gibson also had a .409 on-base percentage. He hit three doubles, had four RBI, and scored 11 runs.
The outfielder was a base-stealing threat as well with four stolen bases.
Gibson’s best game of the 2025 college baseball season came against the North Florida Ospreys on March 4. He had two hits, one walk, stole two bases, and scored two runs.
He was a big-time presence in what was a 10-1 win for the Seminoles.
In 2025, the Florida State Seminoles finished the season 42-16 overall. They also finished 17-10 in ACC play.
The Seminoles hosted a regional at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee for the 2025 NCAA Tournament. They were the ninth-overall national seed.
The Seminoles won the regional championship, defeating Bethune-Cookman and Mississippi State twice. Thus, they advanced to the Corvallis super regional.
Florida State’s season came to an end there at the hands of the Oregon State Beavers in three games.
