At the beginning of August, former Tennessee Volunteer standout Blake Burke made his debut for the Biloxi Shuckers, the Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.

He has gotten off to a roaring start at the double-A level. In 14 games with Biloxi, Burke has a .360 batting average, a .441 on-base percentage, five doubles, four home runs, and 14 RBI.

His first career double-A home run came in a fitting way on the road against the Knoxville Smokies.

According to MLB Pipeline, Burke is ranked as the 29th best prospect in the Brewers’ farm system.

College Career with the Tennessee Volunteers

Burke had an illustrious and massively successful career in college with the Tennessee Volunteers.

In three seasons with Tennessee from 2022 to 2024, Burke had a .332 career batting average and a career .421 on-base percentage. He also has 39 career doubles, 50 career home runs, and 136 career RBI.

The California-native had a stint where he held the Tennessee all-time career home run record.

Burke was a member of Tennessee’s 2024 national championship team. He also helped lead the Volunteers to two SEC Tournament titles and two SEC regular season titles.

In 2024, he was named a first-team All-American along with his Tennessee teammate at the time, Christian Moore.

After his college career in Knoxville came to an end, Burke was selected 34th overall in the MLB draft by the Milwaukee Brewers in Competitive Balance round A.
