The Boston Red Sox acquired 19-year-old Milwaukee Brewers top prospect Yophery Rodriguez, a left-handed hitting outfielder from the Dominican Republic, on April 7 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester, who heads to Cream City.

Boston also received a Competitive Balance Round A draft pick and a player to be named later as part of the deal for Rodriguez. Cash considerations may also be included once the trade is finalized.

According to his MiLB player profile, Rodriguez was assigned to High-A Greenville on April 7.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound slugger ranked as the No. 7 prospect in the Brewers organization on MLBPipeline.com’s Top 30 list.

Milwaukee signed Rodriguez during the international signing period on January 15, 2023, for $1.5 million when he was 17 years old. He joined a select group of top Brewers prospects—including Jackson Chourio and Luis Lara—who skipped the Arizona Fall League, transitioning instead from the Dominican Summer League straight to affiliate ball.

A native of San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, Rodriguez has played in three minor league seasons, compiling a .254 batting average over 165 games. In 721 plate appearances, he collected 155 hits, 37 doubles, nine triples, 13 home runs, 96 RBI, 19 stolen bases, 101 walks, 158 strikeouts, and a .759 OPS.

Since his debut in the Dominican Summer League in 2023, Rodriguez has played at three levels—DSL, Low-A Carolina in 2024, and High-A Wisconsin to start the 2025 season.

Rodriguez appeared in nine spring training games with Milwaukee in 2025, posting a .200/.429/.400 slash line over seven plate appearances. He recorded one hit, one double, two walks, and two strikeouts before being reassigned to High-A Wisconsin.

At Wisconsin this season, Rodriguez played in three games before the trade, slashing .417/.462/.667 across 13 plate appearances, with five hits, one double, one triple, one walk, and three strikeouts.

Last year at Low-A Carolina, Rodriguez played in 110 games and hit .250 with 484 plate appearances. He recorded 105 hits, 23 doubles, six triples, seven home runs, 60 RBI, seven stolen bases, 59 walks, 115 strikeouts, and a .726 OPS.

In 2024, he started 99 of his 100 games in center field for Carolina, logging 850.2 innings. He posted 215 total chances with 198 putouts, 15 assists, two errors, three double plays, and a .991 fielding percentage.

In his first professional season in 2023, Rodriguez appeared in 52 games in the Dominican Summer League, batting .253/.393/.449 over 224 plate appearances. He notched 45 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 36 RBI, 12 stolen bases, 41 walks, and 40 strikeouts.

Rodriguez’s scouting grades include a 55 for Hit, 50 for Power, 55 for Run, 50 for Arm, 50 for Field, and an Overall grade of 50.
