New York Yankees bench coach Brad Ausmus will manage Israel at the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

The Cheshire, Conn.-native previously managed Israel at the 2012 World Baseball Classic Qualifier and served as a coach for Israel at the 2023 World Baseball Classic, where they finished 1-3 and failed to advance to the quarterfinals.

The news was revealed in a post on X by Max Mannis of Jomboy Media, who posted a video of Darren Rovell speaking at an event with Ausmus, who was appearing at the event via a video call.

Ausmus, who played college baseball at Dartmouth before embarking on an 18-year Major League Baseball career as a player, managed the Detroit Tigers from 2014-17 and the Los Angeles Angels in 2019, going 386-422 as an MLB manager. In 2023, Ausmus was hired as the Yankees’ bench coach when the previous bench coach, Carlos Mendoza, was hired to manage the New York Mets.
