Brazil Will Play In 2025 Copa America de Beisbol Event In November With Group A and Group B Confirmed Stadiums

The Confederacao Brasileira de Beisebol e Softbol confirmed on June 9 that Brazil will participate in the 2025 Copa America de Beisbol tournament this November. Venues have been finalized, with Group A games set for Estadio Mariano Rivera in Chorrera, Panama, and Group B games scheduled at El Nido de los Aguilas in Mexicali, Mexico.

The president of the CBBS is Jose Thiago Caldeira.

Brazil is ranked No. 23 in the World Baseball Softball Confederation rankings and No. 11 in the WBSC Americas.

El Nido de los Aguilas, which hosted the 2025 Caribbean Series earlier this year, is home to the Aguilas de Mexicali in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico.

Estadio Mariano Rivera seats 10,000 fans and officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 21, 2024, attended by Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera, Panamanian president Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, vice president Jose Gabriel Carrizo, and other government officials from the province of Panama Oeste.

The stadium is home to the Panama Oeste team in the Campeonato de Beisbol Mayor de Panama, which plays during the spring and summer. It also serves as a venue for Panama’s national team across various age levels.

The first regular season game at Estadio Mariano Rivera was played on April 5, 2025, as part of a doubleheader.

The 2025 Copa America de Beisbol will take place from November 13-22, organized by the WBSC Americas in partnership with Loarte Consulting, a Manhattan-based sports marketing firm.

Fernando Rayo of 8deportivoTN8 in Nicaragua reported on May 27 that Pool B would originally be played at Estadio Fernando Valenzuela in Hermosillo and Estadio Teodoro Mariscal in Mazatlan. However, those venues were not included in the final announcement by the CBBS on June 9.

According to Fernando Rayo of 8deportivoTN8 in Nicaragua on May 27, Pool B will have two venues hosted by two Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico franchise stadiums for the 2025 Copa América de Béisbol event with Estadio Fernando Valenzuela, home of the Naranjeros de Hermosillo and Estadio Teodoro Mariscal, home of the Venados de Mazatlán.

That will now not be the case with the confirmed stadiums that the CCBS announced on June 9.

According to Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes on May 26, the goal for the WBSC Americas and Loarte Consulting is to determine qualifying spots for future Olympic Games and World Baseball Classic events through this tournament.

Loarte Consulting is a sports agency specializing in Hispanic marketing and event services in the United States and Latin America.

The two groups with 12 participating countries that will be in the tournament field for the 2025 Copa de America Beisbol event will be:

Group A: Venezuela/Panama/Dominican Republic/Colombia/Brazil/Curaçao

Group B: México/United States/Puerto Rico/Cuba/Nicaragua/Canada

The top three teams from each group will advance to the super round. Mexico will host the super round.

Brazilian-Baseball media outlet, Beisbol Mundo Afora reported that Brazil will not participate in the Copa de America Beisbol event in November on May 27.

Brazil will now participate at the Copa de América Beisbol tournament and will have a similar roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, when they will play at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas in Pool B against the United States, Great Britain, Italy and Mexico from March 6-11.

Argentina who is ranked at No. 13 in the WBSC Americas and No. 33 overall was going to replace Brazil in Group A at the 2025 Copa América de Béisbol event, if they decided to backout.

There is no word yet on player eligibility but MLB players have only been allowed in the World Baseball Classic. Minor league players and players from other leagues around the world should make up the rosters for this tournament.

The tournament will qualify teams for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

This tournament will serve as a warm-up for the 2026 WBC officially marking the start of the road to the 2028 Olympics for teams from the Americas.
