The Mississippi State Bulldogs head into 2025 with heads high following making the NCAA tournament for the 40th time in the school’s history last season. The goal remains the same, and there are also goals for Mississippi State to chase down national championships as they are one of college baseball’s most illustrious programs.
The race to do that will begin with their nonconference slate of games that will open their 2025 season. That slate and the home opener to the season will be February 14 at Dudy Noble Field against the Manhattan Jaspers for a three-game series. The Bulldogs follow that up with a road game against an always tough Southern Miss team the following Tuesday. They will then travel back home for a three-game series after that against the Missouri State Bears. A home game against a rising Troy team will be next on the plate for Mississippi State before they head on the road again.
The Bulldogs will play in the Astros Foundation College Classic at Minute Maid Ballpark for three games against some tough opponents in Rice, Arizona, and Oklahoma State. Arizona and Oklahoma State were regional hosts in last season’s NCAA tournament. This will be the best amount of preparation Mississippi State will get before SEC play rolls around.
Following some neutral site action in Houston, Mississippi State heads back to Starkville with another matchup against Southern Miss on March 4 and then a weekend series against Queens College.
The Bulldogs then head on the road for another neutral site event in Biloxi, Miss., for the Hancock Whitney Classic to face off against Old Dominion and Nicholls for two games. This will be the final set of non-conference games before their first taste of SEC against the Texas Longhorns at Dudy Noble Field.
Mississippi State has time to get its bearings together in non-conference play before it plays against the nation’s best. It also has the occasional big test that will show where its team is at against national seeds from a season ago.
