Brewers Snap Guardians Win Streak: MLB Recap

The Brewers took the first game of the series between division leaders and snapped the Guardians five-game winning streak. Here’s everything you missed from yesterday in the MLB.

Brewers 5, Guardians 3 

  • The Brewers jumped out to a 5-0 lead after Willy Adames started the scoring in the first inning with a three-run home run. Aaron Civale dished six scoreless innings against his former team to pick up the win. Milwaukee won their third straight and snapped the Guardians five-game win streak after taking the first game of the series between division leaders. Cleveland leads the AL Central by three games. 

Cubs 6, Blue Jays 5 

  • Seiya Suzuki drove in the winning run on a single in the tenth after the Blue Jays scored three in the ninth inning to tie the game. The Cubs won the first game of the series and snapped their three-game losing streak. Chicago is five games out of a wild-card spot in the NL.

Yankees 3, Tigers 0

  • Gerrit Cole threw six scoreless innings where he allowed four hits and struck out eight to help extend the Yankees winning streak to three games. Aaron Judge homered in the eighth for No. 44 on the season. New York is a game ahead of the Orioles for first in the AL East.

Royals 7, Reds 1

  • The Royals took game won of the series in Cincinnati between teams fighting for a wild card spot in their leagues. Bobby Witt homered and was a triple away from the cycle to boost his league-leading average to .352. Kansas City is two and a half games above the Red Sox for the third AL wild-card spot.

Phillies 3, Nationals 2

  • Trea Turner singled with the bases loaded in the ninth to give the Phillies the win and push their win streak to three. Aaron Nola did not allow a run in six and two-thirds to help Philadelphia improve to 72-50, the best record in the NL.

Pirates 5, Mariners 3 

  • The Pirates ended their 10-game win streak with Paul Skenes striking out six and allowing two runs in six innings. Oneil Cruz doubled in two runs for Pittsburgh in the seventh, giving the club the cushion they needed to come away with the win. The Mariners lost their fourth straight and trail the Astros by three games for the AL West lead.

Rays 5, Diamondbacks 4 

  • Tampa scored three runs in the eighth inning to take the lead before Jonny DeLuca scored on a throwing error from Jake McCarthy and won the game for the Rays. Corbin Carroll hit a two-run homer in the ninth to tie the game before the error ended the Diamondbacks’ six-game win streak. Arizona sits in the top wild-card spot in the NL, just three games out of the NL West lead.

Red Sox 12, Orioles 10

  • The Red Sox scored eight runs and gathered ten hits in four innings on Cy Young candidate Corbin Burnes before holding off the Orioles to get the win. Masataka Yoshida had four RBIs, including a three-run homer, to lead the charge on offense. Baltimore fell out of first place in the AL East while the Red Sox sit two and a half back from a wild card spot.

Mets 7, Marlins 3

  • New York scored six runs in the fourth inning, which was capped off by a three-run homer by Brandon Nimmo to take game one of the series. Sean Manaea pitched seven innings and allowed three runs to pick up the win. The Mets are a game back of the last NL wild card spot.

Twins 4, Rangers 3

  • Carlos Santana broke the tie in the fifth inning with a three-run home run, and the Twins held on to win the first two games in Texas. Minnesota moved to just three games behind the Guardians for the AL Central lead.

White Sox 5, Astros 4

  • The White Sox won for the second time in four games after Luis Robert homered twice and had four RBIs to snap the Astros ‘ eight-game winning streak. The Astros have a three-game lead on Seattle atop the AL West.

Dodgers 7, Cardinals 6 

  • The Dodgers scored five runs in the sixth to take the lead, including a solo home run from Mookie Betts and a three-run homer from Kevin Kiemaier. St. Louis had lost five straight and is four games back of a wild card spot.

Rockies 7, Padres 3 

  • Brendan Rodgers hit a three-run homer in the first that helped Colorado jump out to an early four-run lead and beat the hot Padres. San Diego trails the Dodgers by three games in the NL West race.

Angels 3, Braves 2 

  • The Angels snapped their three-game losing streak thanks to a two-run homer from Logan O’Hoppe that tied the game in the fourth to set up the game-winning RBI double by Mickey Moniak in the sixth inning. Atlanta remained in the third wild card position, one game ahead of the Mets.
