Cam Bagwell Looks to Make an Impact on Wake Forest Pitching

After spending his freshman season with the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, Cam Bagwell is transferring to Wake Forest to play for the Demon Deacons in 2026.

Bagwell and his 2025 Season with UNC Wilmington

Bagwell made waves as a starter during the 2025 college baseball season with UNC Wilmington.

In 15 starts and 85 innings of work, he had a 3.07 ERA and allowed an opposing batting average of .220. He tied the UNC Wilmington freshman record for wins (nine).

He had four starts where he pitched seven innings against Campbell, North Carolina A&T, William & Mary, and Monmouth. In those four appearances combined, he had 17 strikeouts and allowed just five earned runs.

In the start against Campbell, Bagwell threw the first perfect game in UNC Wilmington baseball history since 1968.

Bagwell earned some individual hardware from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) for his great season on the mound. He was second-team All-CAA and the CAA Rookie of the Year.

UNC Wilmington’s Big-Time 2025 Season

The Seahawks finished the 2025 college baseball season 34-24 overall. They were also 19-8 in CAA play.

The only team with a better conference record than UNC Wilmington was the Northeastern Huskies.

The Huskies knocked off the Seahawks in the CAA Championship game and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Wake Forest to Begin 2026 Season in Puerto Rico

Bagwell is one of the headlining transfers on the Demon Deacons’ team for 2026. Wake Forest is getting a weekend starter who developed nicely at the mid-major level a year ago.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will open the 2026 season with a weekend series from February 13-15.

They will play in the Puerto Rico Challenge and face off against Houston, Washington, and Indiana State.

The February 13 game against the Houston Cougars is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. ET.
