Cam Flukey Returning from Injury for Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina pitcher Cam Flukey is returning from injury and will be playing with the Chanticleers again in 2026. The news came from Coastal Carolina play-by-play broadcaster Sam Weiderhaft

Flukey suffered a stress fracture to his rib back in February. He will start on Sunday, April 26, against the Texas State Bobcats.

It will be the right-hander’s first start for Coastal Carolina since February 13 against Fairfield. In that start, Flukey went 5 ⅔ innings and struck out seven of the Stags’ hitters. He also allowed just two earned runs and walked only one opposing batter.

A top 10 draft prospect is returning to play college baseball

According to MLB Pipeline, Flukey is a top ten 2026 MLB Draft prospect. He is the highest-ranked pitching prospect who is currently at the collegiate level.

In 2025, Flukey helped lead Coastal Carolina to the College World Series, where they finished as national runners-up.

During that season, he had a 3.19 ERA and 118 strikeouts in 101 ⅔ innings of work. Flukey allowed an opposing batting average of .209 during that year as well.

How Flukey will help Coastal Carolina by returning

The Chanticleers are getting one of the best pitchers in college baseball back as the season rolls closer to the NCAA Tournament.

With that being said, Coastal Carolina has fared well without their ace being healthy. The Chanticleers have a 28-12 overall record and are 15-3 in Sun Belt Conference play. Coastal Carolina sits in first place in the conference, four games ahead of Southern Miss, who is in second place.

The Chanticleers are also top five in the Sun Belt in pitching with a team ERA of 5.09. With Flukey back, Coastal Carolina’s pitching can take a big step forward. This could help ensure that they hold on to the lead in the conference standings with the season coming down to the wire.

Up next for Coastal Carolina

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will play on Friday, April 24, against the Texas State Bobcats at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.

The first pitch is at 6 p.m. ET.
