The Oklahoma Sooners announced their starting rotation to begin the 2026 college baseball season. Cam Johnson will pitch on Friday for the Sooners.
He is set to make his first start of the year on February 13. On that day, Oklahoma takes on Texas Tech at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas for the Shriners Children’s College Showdown.
The Saturday and Sunday starting pitchers behind Johnson will be LJ Mercurius and Cord Rager.

Johnson and his 2025 Season
Johnson transferred to Oklahoma from LSU for the 2025 college baseball season.
He only pitched 20 2/3 innings. However, that included six starts on the mound for the Sooners.
In those 20 2/3 innings of work, Johnson had a 5.23 ERA, 24 strikeouts, and allowed a .237 opposing batting average.
He earned two wins on the mound last season against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks and Sam Houston Bearkats.
In the win over Sam Houston, Johnson threw a season-high eight strikeouts in five innings of work.
Big Shoes to Fill in Norman
Johnson, along with the other Oklahoma pitchers, will have some big shoes to fill. The Sooners no longer have Kyson Witherspoon, who was a bona fide ace in 2025.
Witherspoon was a consensus first-team All-American who was drafted 15th overall in the 2025 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox.
Up Next for Oklahoma
Johnson’s first start and the Sooners’ first game of the 2026 season against the Texas Tech Red Raiders is at noon EST.
