Canada Announces 2025 Copa América de Beisbol Roster

Canada announced its roster for the upcoming Copa América de Béisbol on Tuesday.

The team features a mix of former minor leaguers, players with experience in Asia, current minor leaguers and several standouts from independent leagues.

Among them is pitcher Braeden Allemann, a former University of British Columbia catcher who converted to pitching in his final college season in 2018. After several years in semi-pro ball, Allemann joined the Frontier League’s Aigles de Trois-Rivières in 2023 and spent two seasons with the club. He signed with the powerhouse Capitales de Québec in 2025 and enjoyed a breakout season, posting a 3.05 ERA with 144 strikeouts in 100 1/3 innings while helping Québec capture an unprecedented fourth straight Frontier League title.

Allemann started the all-star game and drew attention from Toronto Blue Jays scouts. He’ll be one of Canada’s top arms in the tournament, and a strong showing could earn the 29-year-old a contract with an MLB organization.

T.J. Schofield-Sam, an infielder in the Oakland Athletics organization, is among the team’s notable hitters. Schofield-Sam reached Double-A in 2025 and combined to hit .271/.352/.374 with five home runs and 55 RBIs across High-A and Double-A levels.

Another key bat will be Connor Panas, who played for the Piratas de Campeche in the 2025 Liga Mexicana de Béisbol. The first baseman/outfielder posted an .858 OPS and ranked third on the team in both home runs (14) and RBIs (50). He’s expected to provide much of Canada’s power.

This marks Canada’s first senior-level international competition in more than two years. The team will be vying for a berth in the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, with five spots available. While official Olympic qualification procedures have not yet been announced, the 2027 Pan American Games are expected to serve as one of the final qualification rounds for teams from the Americas.

The Premier12 tournament is also expected to qualify one team from the region. Canada currently sits near the cutoff for Premier12 qualification at No. 20 in the world rankings. Teams ranked 13–18 at the end of 2025 will automatically advance to the 2026 Premier12 qualifiers, with two wild-card spots also available. A strong performance in Panama could secure Canada’s place.

Canada will compete in Group B alongside Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Panama and Puerto Rico. All Group B games will be played at Estadio Mariano Rivera in La Chorrera, Panama. The tournament runs from Nov. 13–22, with the top three teams from each group advancing to the super round from Nov. 19–21. The top two teams from the super round will play for the title in the inaugural Copa América de Béisbol championship game.
