Cangrejeros de Santurce Reveal Roster for 2026 Caribbean Series in Mexico

Fresh off their first Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente (LBPRC) championship since the 2019–20 season, the Cangrejeros de Santurce officially unveiled their roster for the 2026 Caribbean Series on January 22, as Puerto Rico prepares to return to the region’s premier international tournament in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico.

The 2026 Caribbean Series will run from February 1–7 at Estadio Panamericano, home of the Charros de Jalisco of the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico.

LBPRC Champions Are Headed Back to the Caribbean Series

Santurce secured the 2025–26 LBPRC title on January 20, defeating the Leones de Ponce 5–1 in six games of their best-of-nine championship series in front of their home fans at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan.

The championship was the 17th in franchise history and the organization’s first since the 2019–20 season. Based in San Juan, the Cangrejeros will now pursue their sixth Caribbean Series title.

Series MVP and a Defining Moment in Game Six

First baseman Yohandy Morales was named MVP of the LBPRC best-of-nine championship series.

In Game Six on January 20, Johneshwy Fargas delivered a pivotal two-run single to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning, helping put the series away for Santurce.

Daddy Yankee’s Cangrejeros Era Continues

The Cangrejeros are co-owned by global reggaeton icon and San Juan native Daddy Yankee (Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez), who shared his excitement as the club celebrated its 17th LBPRC crown.

Daddy Yankee also served as a Global Ambassador for the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

This marks the first time Santurce has captured an LBPRC championship since Ayala Rodríguez became a co-owner on November 2, 2021.

What’s Next: Puerto Rico’s Path in Zapopan

Opening Game: Puerto Rico vs. Mexico on Feb. 1

Santurce will open the tournament on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. EST against Mexico (Green) at Estadio Panamericano.

Mexico’s representatives will be the top two finishers from the 2025–26 Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico season, with the Charros de Jalisco and Tomateros de Culiacán meeting in their best-of-seven championship series.

Hosting History in Zapopan

This will be the second time Estadio Panamericano has hosted the Caribbean Series, following the 2018 event—when the Criollos de Caguas became the last Puerto Rico club to win the tournament, defeating Águilas Cibaeñas 9–4 in the championship game.

Who’s In the 2026 Caribbean Series Field

The winter league champions and qualifiers represented at the 2026 Caribbean Series will include Puerto Rico (LBPRC), the Dominican Republic (LIDOM), Mexico (LAMP’s top two finishers), and Panama (ProBeis).

The participating teams are expected to include Mexico’s two LAMP finalists (Charros de Jalisco and Tomateros de Culiacán), Panama ProBeis franchise Federales de Chiriquí, and Puerto Rico’s champion Cangrejeros de Santurce.

The Dominican Republic representative will be determined once the LIDOM championship series concludes, with the defending Caribbean Series champion Leones del Escogido and Toros del Este among the finalists referenced during the winter.

Venezuela Will Not Participate in 2026 Caribbean Series

The Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional (LVBP) will not participate in the 2026 Caribbean Series despite being a member of the Confederación de Béisbol Profesional del Caribe (CBPC). Instead, the LVBP champion will play in the 2026 SDLA in Caracas, Venezuela.
