Caribbean Cup: Curacao Tops Sint Maarten 7-1; Bahamas Thrashes Dominican Republic In Nightcap

Curacao (2-1) 7, Sint Maarten (2-1) 1 – Defending champion Curaçao demonstrated their intentions to win the tournament today after defeating Sint Maarten 7 runs to 1, thus adding their second victory.

Sint Maarten came into this game undefeated, but their pitching couldn’t withstand the offense of their rivals, who connected a total of 13 hits and played error-free defense. 

Phildrick Llewellyn went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Curacao, while pitcher Jordan Lucas threw all seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits with two strikeouts and no walks.

The Bahamas (2-0) 29, Dominican Republic (0-3) 0 (Five Innings) – Yes, you read the score right.

The Dominican pitchers had difficulty finding the plate, walking 17 in the five-inning, mercy-rule shortened game Friday night.

Daunte Stuart went 3-for-4 with a homer for the Bahamas and drove in four runs. Byron Murray and Chavez Young each had three RBIs for the Bahamas. Pitcher Tyreek Sherman threw five shutout innings and allowed two hits, two walks, and struck out five in the win.
